School Advisory Council (SAC)

 

 

Community members, business leaders, parents and teachers work together to develop a School Improvement Plan. The School Advisory Council (SAC) meets monthly to assess our students' academic needs and evaluate the progress of Lake Nona High School. As part of our commitment to excellence, this is done to ensure that every student will continue to receive a quality education. We encourage and welcome your input. 

What is the Purpose of SAC?

The SAC is a resource for the school, its teachers, parents, and principal. Its function is to assist in the preparation and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP). Specific functions of SAC members include:

  • Use state and district goals as a guide for assessing the school’s needs.
  • Determine and prioritize the goals of the school based on appropriate needs assessments and other data.
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of the school improvement plan (SIP).
  • Identify the appropriate use of school improvement dollars for implementing the approved school improvement plan, if funds are available from the Florida Department of Education (FDOE).
  • Operate in compliance with Florida statutes and school board policies.
  • Assist the principal in the preparation of the school’s annual budget with technical assistance from the Florida Department of Education.

2026-2027 SAC Meeting Dates

2026-2027 SAC Meetings will take place on the third Wednesday of every month:

 

  • September 16, 2026
  • October 21, 2026
  • November 18, 2026
  • December 16, 2026
  • January 20, 2027
  • February 17, 2027
  • March- TBD due to Spring Break
  • April 21, 2027
  • May 19, 2027

Reminder: The first SAC meeting of the year is Wednesday, August 19th, 2026 in the Media Center at 5:30 PM. SAC Officers will be elected for the following positions: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary.

LNHS needs YOU to serve on SAC! Your involvement in our SAC and LNHS are essential for the success of our students and school.

 

 

**The first SAC Meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at 5:30 PM in the Media Center. The PTSA meeting will follow at 6:30 PM.**

 

SAC Meetings take place one Wednesday per month at 5:30 PM in the Media Center, unless otherwise advertised. SAC Members must be available to attend these meetings.

 

 

*Prior to the first SAC Meeting, members of the 2026-2027 SAC must be elected to serve by their peer groups.

SAC Member Elections:

SAC member elections are held for the following stakeholder groups:

  • Classified staff
  • Parents
  • Students (HS/CTE)
  • Teachers

 

*Business/Community members are appointed by the Principal

 

*The majority of SAC members must be non-school district employees.

 

 

 

How to Become a SAC Member: 

  1. Fill out the candidate interest form by 11:59 PM August 8th, 2026.
  • Only one person per family can serve as a member on the same SAC.
  • ALL interested candidates will be included on the ballot for elections.
  1. The names of ALL interested candidates and their informational statement will be compiled into a digital ballot and sent to their respective peer groups via digital form on August 11th, 2026 for voting.  
  • Information with the date the ballots will close and members will be announced will be sent after the candidate interest form closes.

School Advisory Council (SAC) – Meetings for the 2026-2027 SY:

 

The first SAC Meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, at 5:30 PM in the Media Center. The PTSA meeting will follow at 6:30 PM.

 

At the first meeting of the 2026-2027 academic year, information shall be provided as to the conduct on Sunshine Law, Public Records and Ethics, SAC Officer Elections will be held, as well finalizing the School Improvement Plan.

All members of the public are welcome to attend meetings.
